Cafes & Brunch

rec_nashfarmCornmill Cafe at Nash Farm Shop, SA72 4SS: (2012 to 2019) RIP. This brilliant Farm Shop and Café closed its doors for the last time in February 2019 and will be sorely missed by Him Indoors and I as well as all our local friends and acquaintances. No more lazy lunches sitting by the lake in the summer, no more comforting hot food in the upstairs café in the winter, and no more wonderful butcher’s counter defying me to leave without a couple of Barnsley Chops or some Pork Belly tucked into my bag. This one leaves a gap which won’t be easy to fill.

Woodland Café at Hilton Court, SA62 6AE: One of my favourite spots for coffee and cake on a Sunday afternoon, but they also make very good sandwiches. Admittedly, the choice is limited, but the high quality of flavour and presentation is maintained even at the busiest of times. Sit on the verandah and enjoy the view. Closed in the winter months. Tel: 01437 710262. Last visited: July 2018.

Cawdors Tea Rooms at the MENCAP Gardens, SA71 5DJ: Hot meals, sandwiches and a great choice of cakes are served here in the shelter of the walled garden at Stackpole. One of the touches I like is that trivia question cards are left on the cafe’s tables so we can all have some fun trying to answer whilst eating! Closed Christmas and New Year. Tel: 01646 661442. Last visited: August 2018.

These next few have also been highly recommended by us in the past, but we have been busy elsewhere and have not visited them this year. Some places vary their opening hours according to the season so you are advised to check directly.
