Pembroke Dock’s centenary was marked on 15 July 1914 by the unveiling of the centenary monument, a pedestal and gas lamp in Albion Square, by the town’s Mayor, Alderman Robinson. The inscription on the monument acknowledges that the town was built by the efforts of its populace and they should be proud of those efforts. The unveiling was followed by many events including a pageant and carnival, a concert performance by the Pembroke Dock Military Band, children’s sports activities, and a massive confetti battle.
