The people of the town must have had difficulty believing their eyes when, in May 1904, Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show arrived. The spectacular appearance of the American Indians in their traditional costumes, the 7th Cavalry, and the skills displayed by the trick shooters and Cossack horsemen held them in thrall. This was certainly very different from the traditional travelling fairs and circuses the townspeople were used to.
